STARTED IN MILAN. MADE INDEPENDENT.

OUR STORY

Ritmo Mundo was founded in 2002, beginning in Milan with an independent spirit and a determination to approach watchmaking differently.

From the beginning, the idea was simple: create watches with personality — bold forms, unexpected colors, unconventional architecture and distinctive materials — while delivering genuine watchmaking value.

Long before social media and today’s direct-to-consumer luxury marketplace, Ritmo Mundo grew through traditional retailers, international travel, print advertising and personal relationships with collectors around the world.

From Milan to Beverly Hills, that independent spirit has remained at the center of the brand.

More than two decades later, Ritmo Mundo continues to create watches on its own terms — combining the energy and color of California with traditional watchmaking, Swiss movements, mechanical complications and increasingly innovative materials.

OUR FOUNDER

Ali Soltani, founder and president of Ritmo Mundo, brings an unconventional background to watchmaking — one shaped by law, luxury retail, design and decades of experience in Beverly Hills.

A graduate of UCLA and Loyola Law School, Soltani began his career as a business attorney before joining his family’s luxury retail business, David Orgell on Rodeo Drive, where he gained firsthand experience with some of the world’s leading watch and jewelry houses and developed relationships with collectors, designers and personalities from around the world.

In 2002, Soltani founded Ritmo Mundo, beginning in Milan with a different vision of what an independent watch company could be. Rather than follow established conventions, he built the brand around bold design, unexpected color, unusual case architecture and an accessible approach to luxury watchmaking.

That independent philosophy has guided Ritmo Mundo for more than two decades — from the original Gran Data and unconventional Centurion and Persepolis, through Puzzle and Quantum, to today’s transparent sapphire Pegasus and Tourbillon collections.

Remaining independent has allowed Soltani and the Ritmo Mundo team to design without a corporate playbook — experimenting with materials, architecture and color while responding quickly to new ideas.

Nearly 25 years after its founding, Soltani continues to lead Ritmo Mundo from Beverly Hills, maintaining the same principle that shaped the brand from the beginning:

Create watches people remember.

DESIGN WITHOUT A CORPORATE PLAYBOOK

Independence has always been one of Ritmo Mundo’s greatest creative advantages.

Without the layers of approval that often come with large luxury groups, the Ritmo Mundo design team can move quickly — exploring unconventional case shapes, new materials, unexpected colors and ideas that might never survive a traditional corporate design process.

That freedom has produced watches that rarely follow the expected formula. From offset dials and orbital cases to carbon-fiber construction, layered architecture and full sapphire cases, Ritmo Mundo has consistently approached the watch itself as an object of design.

The goal has never been to make another version of what already exists.

Independence gives us the freedom to make something different.

MORE THAN TWO DECADES OF DESIGN

Ritmo Mundo’s design language has continually evolved while maintaining the unconventional spirit established with its first collection.

2002 · GRAN DATA

The watch that started Ritmo Mundo. Its distinctive rectangular architecture established an early willingness to depart from traditional watch design. The first purple Gran Data was created for Elizabeth Taylor.

2006 · CENTURION

Inspired by early driver watches, Centurion repositioned the dial so that 12 o’clock sits toward 1 o’clock, allowing the time to be read naturally with the hands positioned on a steering wheel.

2007 · PERSEPOLIS

An orbital 50 mm case housing two Swiss automatic movements, created to display two independent time zones and dates within one unconventional architecture.

2011 · PUZZLE

A playful mechanical design built around movable components and a sliding upper structure, transforming interaction with the watch into part of the experience.

2014 · QUANTUM

Carbon fiber, layered construction and industrial architecture introduced a new technical design language to Ritmo Mundo.

2024 · THE SAPPHIRE ERA

Pegasus brought Ritmo Mundo into full sapphire case construction, combining transparency, color and exposed mechanical architecture.

TODAY

From automatic skeleton movements to the Pegasus Tourbillon, Ritmo Mundo continues to explore what can happen when traditional watchmaking is approached from an independent point of view.

Different eras. Different materials. The same independent spirit.

FROM CONCEPT TO WRIST

Ritmo Mundo watches begin with an idea rather than a formula.

Working with designers, engineers and manufacturing partners around the world, concepts move from sketches and digital renderings through CAD development, 3D modeling, prototyping and testing before reaching production.

Materials are chosen as part of the design itself. Carbon fiber, aluminum, stainless steel, sapphire and silicone have each been used not simply for their technical properties, but for the role they play in the architecture and personality of a particular watch.

The same philosophy applies to movements. Depending on the collection, Ritmo Mundo works with Swiss automatic and chronograph movements as well as mechanical skeleton and tourbillon calibers, selecting the movement around the purpose and design of the watch.

Color is equally intentional. From the earliest Gran Data models to Quantum’s contrasting structural details and today’s colored sapphire Pegasus cases, color has remained one of Ritmo Mundo’s most recognizable forms of expression.

The result is a design process that combines traditional watchmaking principles with the freedom of an independent brand.

Concept. Architecture. Material. Movement. Color.

FRIENDS OF RITMO MUNDO

For more than two decades, Ritmo Mundo has developed relationships across film, television, music, sports and motorsport, becoming part of countless moments along the way.

From Elizabeth Taylor, who received the first Ritmo Mundo Gran Data in 2002, to Samuel L. Jackson, Beyoncé and generations of athletes, entertainers, drivers and collectors, these relationships have become part of the history of the brand.

Some were collaborations. Some were friendships. Others simply discovered Ritmo Mundo and made the watches their own.
